Capital Credits Are Coming! On December 15th…

On December 15, 2025, Blachly-Lane Electric Cooperative will retire and pay out $634,118 in capital credits to members who received electric services in 2008 and 2009.

What Are Capital Credits?
As a member-owned cooperative, Blachly-Lane allocates excess margins to our members, not investors. Excess margins are funds that remain after the cooperative has paid all its expenses for the year. Margins are allocated as patronage capital, also known as capital credits, to each member based on the amount of electricity they use. Your capital credit account is a key part of what makes membership in a cooperative unique.

Capital credits represent your ownership in the cooperative. These funds help maintain and improve the electric system and support emergency needs. After a period of time, and when financial conditions permit, capital credits are retired and paid back to our members. Capital credits from 2008–2009 are being returned to our members this December.

Who Will Receive a Check?
If you were a Blachly-Lane member in 2008 or 2009, you will receive a capital credit retirement check this December. Former members still receive the capital credits they earned, so please keep us updated with your current address. Also, if you share service with a spouse and only one spouse is listed on your account, consider adding the other to ensure capital credits transfer smoothly in the future. Call us at 541-688-8711 for any account updates. We’re happy to help!
