The Blachly-Lane Energy Share (BLES) program assists cooperative members who face difficult times paying their electric bills. The program is funded by donations from the generous members and employees of Blachly-Lane Electric Cooperative.
If it is true it is better to give than receive, this year 193 members are sure to be blessed for their generosity. These members have elected to have their monthly bills rounded up to the nearest dollar, adding an average of $160 to the BLES fund each month. Others give one-time donations or have a specified recurring contribution amount added to their monthly bills. Contributions to the BLES program are tax-deductible.
Blachly-Lane employee contributions have added another $2,200 to the fund so far in 2022. Through mid-November, 31 members qualified to receive financial assistance from BLES in 2022. The program offers a onetime payment of $275 during a 12-month period. Members must meet income guidelines to be eligible.
