June 8-14, 2018
Blachly-Lane Electric Co-op is offering the trip of a lifetime to one deserving high school junior. If you currently are a high school junior and your parents/guardians are Blachly-Lane Electric Co-op members, you could be selected to represent Blachly-Lane at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Tour in Washington, DC
June 8 – 14, 2017.
Youth Tour Details
This opportunity is specifically for junior class students so the successful candidate will be available through their senior year to promote the NRECA program to the junior class students and attend Blachly-Lane’s 2019 annual meeting to be introduced to members.
While in Washington, DC, students learn about electric cooperatives, American history and U. S. government. Students will meet other teens from around the country representing their rural electric co-op. In the end, they come home with a greater understanding of their role as a citizen. The Youth Tour representatives participate in National Youth Day, visit with their representative and senators and explore monuments and sights around the nation’s capital.
Students travel with a chaperone and fellow students from their state, and will interact with many other students from around the U. S. who are representing their electric co-ops.
Deadline for Application: 4:30 p.m. January 12, 2018
